DVLA Licence Details

From the 8th June 2015 the counterpart to the photocard driving licence will not be valid and will no longer be issued. From this date ALL penalty points and driving entitlements of both photocard and paper licence holders will be recorded online.

Instead of using the paper part there will be several ways we can check your licence before hiring a vehicle from us:

  • Provide us with your National Insurance number, licence number and post code on booking so we can check your licence is valid and mark this on our booking system ready for your hire (only valid for bookings within two weeks)
  • Complete the same method as above, but in branch at point of collection. (only takes a few minutes to check)
  • Log into https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence and then generate a licence check code for us to use online and valid your licence without having to provide us with your NI number. This is a case sensitive code and only lasts 72 hours so must be provided to us during office hours to prevent any delay in checking your licence.
  • Use the premium rate number on site when collecting the vehicle at a cost of £5.00. This phone line is only open 8am to 6pm Mon – Fri and Sat morning. This system may be delayed with the increase in calls after the 8th June.

We will be making changes to our booking system to allow customers to add their NI number if they wish and select a tick box to confirm that they allow us to check their details. Please be patient with us while this change over takes place.
